Capt Robert Arnold Sykes – WW1, WW2
I recommend Graeme at FMH to anyone who is searching for a family member’s military history. We recently engaged Graeme to assist us research our Great Uncle’s involvement in the two world wars and also supply a framed honour board comprising photograph, engraved plaque and replica medals. We were delighted with the information we received and the quality of the honour board.
This work is Graeme’s passion. He takes a personal approach to the task and with his military background is equipped to provide expert insight.

My father served in New Guinea in WW2 with a small, unique but vitally important unit, namely the 8th Anti Malaria Control Unit. Finding information about the Unit was challenging but after extensive research, including review of their War Diary (over 500 pages) Graeme was able to piece together where my father served and with whom.
Unfortunately my father passed away at an early age so the grandchildren did not get the opportunity to speak to him about his time in the Army or his successful career as a footballer with Canterbury –Bankstown. Not only does the report that Graeme prepared for me cover his military career (which includes photographs from the family collection) it also includes images of his record as a footballer all of which paint a picture that has informed the family of what he did and achieved.
I have no hesitation in recommending Graeme to those who are looking for information about loved ones.

Graeme’s work really set out the service career of Mum’s uncle in the most comprehensive way.
I cannot recommend Family Military History high enough. Graeme’s attention to detail, passion for the subject and great lengths he went to (including seeking the translation to English of a French reference book) ensured my Mother has a lasting memory of her brother.

Gunner Thomas Sidney Lawford – WW1
I would like to thank Graeme Davis at Family Military History for the excellent work he did regarding the military history of my grandfather who served in WW1 as a gunner with the Royal Field Artillery Unfortunately, during the London Blitz of WW2, UK army archives were destroyed. However, Graeme, who obviously has a great deal of knowledge and an extensive network of contacts, was able to establish when and where my grandfather would have enlisted, photos and details of the various roles of a gunner in battle and a month by month calendar of where his Brigade saw action on the Western Front. This included attacks carried out with the 1st Australian Division at Pozieres, a fact I found particularly poignant.
My grandfather never talked to his family about his wartime experiences but fortunately we do have some photographs of him in uniform and his original Victory Medal, copies of which have been incorporated in Graeme’s excellent report. I have no hesitation in recommending Graeme and Family Military History.

Dear Graeme,
Thank you so very much for the superbly researched and collated volume on my grandfather’s all too short war career.
Much of what you have put together I already knew but the pages and copies and folders are all over the place, so to have someone else focus on Huntleigh and put his history together coherently is wonderful. Some information is new to me so that is an added bonus. I can’t thank you enough.

I recently sold my house and during the clean-up came across this photograph.
Without my knowledge a friend gave it to Graeme who discovered his name and then researched his army service. I am absolutely delighted with the report and the new found knowledge about how Alex served his country.

We have recently used Graeme Davis of Family Military History to research and produce a portfolio on my farther who was in the Royal Air Force in the 2nd World War as a navigator in the Beaufighter planes. This required Graeme to access our father’s military records and files in the United Kingdom and combined with information that we had received from his records during the war. With the research that Graeme conducted, combined with the information that we had, this allowed Graeme to produce an exceptional document for us.
As with most people like our Dad who had been in active service in war zones there is very little information disclosed and talked about from the experience. What Graeme was able to achieve for us was a very informative transcript and details of our fathers activates and service record and travels. This results in us having a fantastic document providing details and information that we would never have been able obtain, joining a lot of the pieces of the puzzle that were not revealed by my Dad.
We would highly recommend Graeme’s work and the satisfaction that it has provided to us.

Hi Graeme, thank you for your efforts in putting my great grandfather’s record together it totally exceeded my expectations. It is a sad story and very moving. I think it’s meant to be that this information is coming to light now because he will have family attend Bullecourt next year for the 100th anniversary and we will remember and honour him.
